Five hidden truths about temples, from Eden to the New Jerusalem
By the end of this guide you will be able to trace one story of where God lives, from a garden to a tent to a stone house to Jesus to a room full of ordinary people, and see why the holiest place you will stand in this week is wherever you happen to be standing.

This is a companion to the video "5 LIFE-CHANGING 'hidden truths' about Temples in the Bible." It is for the person who has spent years walking into a building on Sunday and calling that the holy part of the week, and then walking back out into a job, a kitchen, a commute, and a marriage that felt like they happened somewhere God was not paying much attention. It is also for the person who was made to feel that the building's people had decided there was no room in it for them. If either of those is you, keep reading. The Bible has been trying to tell you something about where God actually lives, and it is better news than you were handed.
Here is how to use it. Watch the video first if you can. Then open your Bible and keep it open beside you, because this guide walks through more of Scripture than most, and every claim in it can be checked. Read "The teaching" straight through; it carries the whole argument on its own. Then work "The passages" slowly, with a pen, and read every quotation in your own Bible too. Save "Questions to sit with" for last, and answer them on paper. Paper slows you down, and slow is the point.
One thing before we start. Being right about temples does not save anyone. Faith in Christ does. I have friends all over the map on how to read Ezekiel's temple and the millennium, and they love Jesus and love people better than I do some days. So hold this study the way I hold it: be convinced by the text if the text convinces you, and stay kind toward everyone who reads it differently. Beliefs do have consequences, though, and this one has a big one.
What you believe about where God lives decides where you expect to meet him. If holiness lives in a building, then most of your life happens outside of it. If holiness lives in you and in the people around you, then there is no square inch of your week God has stepped out of. Same Bible, two completely different ways to get out of bed in the morning.
