What the Biblical text states is authoritative. By “the Biblical text”, I mean ALL of Scripture, both in its written context (what’s going on in that paragraph, chapter, and book, as well as those works around it and like it in genre) and historical context (what was going on in the lives of the author and audience, as well as their neighbors and secondary characters, including historical antecedents), free from foreign philosophical assumptions and systems (such as Platonism, Docetism, Dispensationalism, Calvinism, Open Theism, etc.)
Your task is to hear out several different perspectives with an open mind, and cross-reference the Biblical text, to search the Scriptures like the Bereans to see if these things are so (Acts 17).
It is my belief that if I am face-to-face with someone who can affirm the Nicene and Apostle's Creeds, that I am face-to-face with a brother in Christ destined for eternal life. I hope and pray for similar treatment.
